Normalization of IOQM Scores (September 7 and September 28, 2025)
The Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) 2025 was conducted in two sessions: on September 7, 2025 and on September 28, 2025 in certain regions where the exam was rescheduled.
To ensure fairness, the following normalization will be applied:
- The average score of candidates in the September 7 exam will be taken as reference.
Note: The average on each date will be computed over all students who wrote the exam on said date: average is meant to compare the two examinations and not the regions. - Scores of candidates in the September 28 exam will be scaled up by a common factor so that their average matches that of the September 7 exam.
- Scores of September 7 candidates will remain unchanged.
All decisions regarding National Certificates, Regional Certificates, and RMO selection will be made using these normalized scores.
This normalization is particularly relevant for the award of National Certificates and in the case of JNV and KV regions (Region Codes 31 and 32) where students appear in both sessions. For other regions, since Regional Certificates and RMO selection are decided region-wise, the effect of normalization is limited.
This procedure is meant to ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged by the session in which they appeared.
Example
Suppose the average score on Sept 7 is 40 and the average score on Sept 28 is 32. The scaling factor is 40 / 32 = 1.25
. A candidate who scored 48 on Sept 28 will have a normalized score of

- The IOQM exam for centers/regions where it could not be held on 7th September will now be held on 28th September. We will announce details for normalisation soon.

- Important: Due to ongoing situation related to weather events, examination is cancelled for center AND students in region 04 and 05 . Please consult the attached list to see if you are affected.
- Correction (6th September @ 1:30pm): There was typo in the listing of the center “HRM024” in the previous announcement (though the address was correctly stated, the name was inadvertently left out). This has now been corrected, and the file is available at the same link.
- For other students/centres not in the list, the examination will take place as before. Alternatives for these centers/students will be announced by 14th September.
